‘Fish come up short



(Sugar Land, Tx.– May 17, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Sugar Land Skeeters 5-0 in Friday night’s game at Constellation Field.

Mike Parisi (1-3) pitched well for Bridgeport but took the loss in Friday night’s game. Parisi pitched six innings, giving up eight hits and four runs. Mickey Jannis pitched in his second game with Bridgeport; giving up two hits in one inning.

Michael Nix (3-0) picked up the win for the Skeeters. He pitched seven innings without giving up a run and allowing just three hits.

(Sugar Land, Tx.– May 16, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 7-1 in Thursday night’s  game at Constellation Field.

Keith Bilodeau (1-0) recored his first win of the season. He pitched five innings of three hit ball while only allowing one run. Ty’Relle Harris relieved Bilodeau by pitching the next three innings, he gave up two hits and stuck out four. And Adam Carr worked a scoreless ninth inning.

The offense was clicking just as the pitching did. Bridgeport wasted no time as Adam Greenberg (0-1, R, RBI) walked to lead off

Former Big Leaguer Mitchell Joins Bluefish

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 14, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the additions of infielders Russ Mitchell and Sam Greenberg, along with pitcher Mickey Jannis.

“Russ is an all-around player that adds a powerful bat to our lineup and a great glove to our infield,” says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. “We also look forward to Mickey’s contributions to the pitching staff and having Sam back with the club.”

Mitchell joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball. The former Major Leaguer played last season in Double-A, appearing in 47 games

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 11, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 10-5 in game one of Saturday’s double header and were defeated by the Blue Crabs 8-2 in the nightcap at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard Saturday night.

Iggy Suarez Joins Bluefish

Bridgeport adds infielder



(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 11, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of infielder Iggy Suarez.  Suarez joins the Bluefish for his fourth stint in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball.

“Iggy will help this ballclub tremendously,” says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. “He’s one of the best fielders I’ve seen in this league and adds a veteran presence to the clubhouse.”

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 10, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-3 in Friday night’s game at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Southern Maryland jumped out first in the second inning with an RBI double by Brandon Jones (4-for-4, HR, 2 RBI). In the bottom half of the frame, Bridgeport responded with two runs of their own. Alexis Gomez (1-for-3, 2 R) led off with a walk and scored on a Matt Spencer RBI double with two outs. Yusuf Carter (3-for-4, RBI) followed that up with a single that scored Spencer.

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 8, 2013) – The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-1 in game one of Wednesday night’s double header, while the Bluefish were defeated by the Riversharks 8-6 in game two at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Michael Colla (2-1) started game one for Bridgeport. He picked up his second win of the year by completing all seven innings and giving up one run on four hits. Colla also tied a Bluefish season high with eight strike-outs.
