Biography:
2010 will mark Jorge’s first year in the Atlantic League and sixth professional baseball season. Last year, he competed with the Visalia Oaks (High-A, Diamondbacks). In 44 appearances, batters hit .258 off of the righthander, who recorded five saves in 67.1 innings pitched.
The 24-year old pitcher was an undrafted signing by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2005. Later that year, he participated in Dominican Summer League baseball where he saw his first professional action. He earned 21 saves in 25 appearances with a 0.00 ERA in 32 innings pitched while earning 64 strikeouts. Opponents hit .094 against the righty. In 260 professional frames, Perez collected a 3.91 ERA with 314 strikeouts over 260 innings of work, while allowing only 79 walks. |
