Bluefish Fall in Rain Shortened Game

Drennen homer give Somerset win against Bridgeport

(Bridgewater, N.J. – September 22, 2012) – The Bridgeport Bluefish (35-33, 66-72) suffered a rain-shortened defeat against the Somerset Patriots (30-38, 65-73) as the road squad lost by a score of 1-0 in five innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday. Bridgeport is 8-11 against Somerset this season heading into Sunday’s play.

The only run scored on a Johnny Drennen solo shot to centerfield in the fifth frame for the Patriots. James Simmons was the only Bluefish hitter to get on base as he doubled in the top of the fifth inning. Adam Donachie had a double, Joe Holden contributed a single, and Jonny Tucker walked to represent the baserunners for the winning side.

Bridgeport starter, Jonah Bayliss (4-9), suffered the loss as the righthanded hurler delivered five innings of one run, three hit, one walk, and one strikeout baseball. Somerset starter, Derell McCall (10-6), earned the win as he completed five innings and allowed one hit.

Bridgeport finishes the regular season series on the road against the Somerset Patriots on Sunday. First pitch is at 1:05. The game can be found on bridgeportbluefish.com. Bridgeport will send a pitcher to be determined against Somerset lefthanded hurler Adam Champion (0-1, 9.00 ERA).
