Oseguera, Lewis and Redman honored on First Team
(Bridgeport, Conn. – October 19, 2012) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced that Bridgeport Bluefish pitchers Paul Oseguera and Rommie Lewis, outfielder Prentice Redman, and infielder Eddie Rogers have been named to the 2012 Atlantic League Postseason All-Star Team. Oseguera, Lewis and Redman were honored on the First Team, while Rogers was named to the Second Team.
“We are very pleased to hear that Paul, Rommie, Prentice and Eddie have been named to represent the Bluefish on the Atlantic League Postseason All-Star Team” said general manager Ken Shepard. “They were strong contributors to the team all season long and we are happy that they have received these honors.”
Oseguera, who claims First Team honors for the second consecutive year, was a Pitcher of the Year candidate all season long, winning 12 games and leading the league with 146 strikeouts and two shutouts. He also ranked second with a 2.52 ERA and four complete games. During his third straight season with the Bluefish, the lefthander posted career-bests in wins, ERA and strikeouts.
Lewis earns First Team recognition during his Atlantic League debut with the Bluefish. In 48 appearances, the reliever recorded seven saves with a 2.01 ERA and 47 strikeouts over the course of 53.2 innings of work.
Redman batted .282 and posted career-highs with 21 home runs, 39 doubles and 82 RBI with the ‘Fish in 2012. His 39 doubles tied a Bluefish single season record, matching Wes Bankston’s mark from last season. The outfield also ranked second in the Atlantic League in two-baggers and third in extra-base hits (61).
Rogers receives a Second Team nod after batting .283 with eight home runs, 27 doubles and 21 stolen bases. He also posted personal-bests in RBI (67) and runs scored (78).
