Jobduan Morales makes his way to Bridgeport

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 15, 2015
) – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of catcher Jobduan Morales. Morales makes his way to Bridgeport for his first season in the Atlantic League and seventh of professional baseball.

“Jobduan is a young, eager catcher that will help out the depth of our club,” says Bluefish manager Ricky VanAsselberg. “We look forward to his contributions this season.”

Morales began the 2015 season with High-A Lancaster of the California League (Houston Astros), where he recorded a .217 batting average with six RBI and six runs scored in 46 at-bats.

Last year, the 23-year-old spent time with Single-A Quad Cities of the Midwest League and High-A Lancaster of the California League, both affiliates of the Astros. In 65 games, he recorded a .244 batting average with 39 RBI and 37 runs scored.

The Puerto Rico-native was originally drafted out of high school by the Florida Marlins in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB amateur draft. Morales spent three years within the Marlins organization before he was traded in 2012 to the Houston Astros, where he then spent another three seasons. In 325 career minor-league games, Jobduan owns a .246 batting average with 16 home runs, 150 RBI and 157 runs scored.

In a corresponding roster move, the Bluefish have placed catcher Luis Al. Rodriguez on the inactive list.

The Bridgeport Bluefish are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. For further information, call 203-210-BLUE (2583) or visit BridgeportBluefish.com.
