'Fish Sweep Doubleheader From Sharks

Look for series sweep on Sunday again Camden

(Bridgeport, Conn. – May 16, 2015)
– The Bridgeport Bluefish (13-8) won both games of a day/night doubleheader from the Camden Riversharks (11-12) at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Saturday. The ‘Fish collected the victory in the matinee by a score of 5-3, and then finished the sweep with a 2-1 win in the nightcap.

In game one, Bluefish starter Cody Scarpetta took to the mound to begin the day and picked up a no-decision after allowing two runs over three and two-thirds innings pitched. Matt Iannazzo (1-2) gained the win after pitching two and one-third innings, allowing no runs and striking out two. Riversharks starter Eric Smith (0-1) suffered the loss by giving up five runs on six hits and one walk over three and one-third innings of work. John Alonso led the way for the ‘Fish with three runs batted in, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

In game two, Bridgeport starter D.J. Mitchell (3-0) spun a gem, picking up the win by pitching seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and two walks, while striking out six. Camden starter Bill Murphy (1-2) was the tough luck loser, allowing two runs (one earned) on 10 hits. The Bluefish pounded out 11 hits in the nightcap, including three from Nick Van Stratten and two from Ryan Babineau.

The ‘Fish look for the series sweep at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Sunday against the Camden Riversharks. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
