David Kubiak Wins The Opener, Helped Out By Three Hits From Welington Dotel

(Central Islip, NY– September 7, 2016) – The Bridgeport Bluefish (30-29, 60-69) split a single admission doubleheader with the Long Island Ducks (26-33, 66-63) at Bethpage Ballpark on Wednesday night with the visitors winning the opening game 3-2 and the home team taking the nightcap 2-0 with both contests lasting seven innings. The twin-bill was scheduled after the game that was supposed to be played on Tuesday night between the cross sound rivals was postponed due to rain.

Jose Cuevas gave the ‘Fish the lead with a run scoring double of his own off the wall in left field, scoring Dotel. Newcomer Geraldo Valentin followed with his first hit in a Bridgeport uniform, scoring Cuevas with a RBI base knock to give the ‘Fish some much needed insurance, an run batted in that proved to be the difference as Carpenter was able to shut the door in the ninth for the one-run victory. Dotel led the way for Bridgeport with three hits.
